Shining Night is an eclectic variety of choral offerings recorded live by Xcentric Studios in some of the most exciting cathedrals of England, Scotland and Wales during the Chorale's tour during the summer of 1998.

A highlight of the tour was competition in the world choral festival in Wales, the Eisteddfod. The title song was actually recorded on the stage of the five thousand person amphitheater there, and the crowd reaction is double noticeable during the performance of the rousing gospel number Worthy to Be Praised.

The album procedes from the echoes of Telemann's Laudate Jehovam to the reverent Lass dich nur nichts nicht dauren of Johannes Brahms. The group presents a moving setting of Dirait-On by Morten Lauridsen and an expansive rendition of the Rossini Cum Sancto Spiritu accompanied by great organ.

Lighter numbers include Copland's Ching-a-ring Chaw, Scottish folksongs with flute accompaniment as well as an unusual setting of Keep Your Lamps featuring Conductor Bruce Rogers on conga drums!

In all, the group's love of great choral music infuses the entire one hour recording.
